Lyrics
They were getting old, but who’s keeping score?
Joe laughed off the aches, just shrugged, ignored,
Marge walked slow, but she didn’t complain,
Her hands were worn, but they still felt the same.
In the dark, they’d stay,
Just two old folks passing the day,
Hands in the popcorn, sharing a grin,
A (let ring)
Watching the screen as the lights dimmed.
Joe grabbed her hand, found their seats with care,
Aches in their bones, but they didn’t compare,
Shared a chuckle, fought over the last piece,
Life had its struggles, but here, there was peace.
In the dark, they’d stay,
Just two old folks passing the day,
Hands in the popcorn, sharing a grin,
A (let ring)
Watching the screen as the lights dimmed.
(instrumental verse)
As the credits rolled, no rush,
Joe leaned in close, he still had a crush,
A kiss on the cheek, a simple thing,
No grand gestures, just the comfort of being.
In the dark, they’d stay,
Just two old folks passing the day,
Hands in the popcorn, sharing a grin,
A (let ring)
Watching the screen as the lights dimmed.
They’d rise at the end, not in a rush,
Movies are too short, she’d say in a hush
Joe and Marge, at the movies again,
C (let ring)
Watching one more ‘til the lights are dimmed.
