Scratches
The table is new, but it’s
already full— a dropped bead of super
glue, a streak of blue from watercolor,
a knife’s mistake along the edge.
We haven’t had it long, but
it’s already ours.
Don’t sand it down.
Let the mess speak: we lived
here. We gathered.
We spilled.
We stayed.
