Snapping Beans
It starts with beans and hands
moving without thinking—
snapping, dropping, snapping, dropping.
Words come easier when
your fingers are busy, when
the focus is soft, like a
lantern light swinging
in the dark.
We talk about
who’s sick, who’s healing,
who baked what
last week, and who forgot.
This is how we build
trust— in the silence between
snaps, in the gentle unraveling
of days with no one performing.
This is where knowing begins.
