The doors breathe open each morning.

You walk in carrying your lesson plans,

your coffee, your quiet prayer.

The desks wait like mouths

ready to speak if only you

knew what to ask.

And you do ask,

with your eyes, with the

pause before instruction—

you ask: Can we do this together?

And sometimes

they answer yes.
