Coffee & Wine
The day begins with a buzz,
ends with a blur.
Caffeine to climb the hill,
alcohol to slide back down.
But there’s a place in the middle—
an unmapped noon
where no substance presses in,
where no voice competes for air,
where all I have to be is a body
sitting still in a chair,

remembering how
to breathe.
