Stillness Is Not Empty
Someone told me silence
is the voice of God.
I thought, how strange that the
holiest voice would whisper nothing.
But then, in the woods, when I stopped talking—
when I didn’t even hum as I walked—
I heard it:
the language
of my own thoughts,
the creak of a pine,
the soft letting go of something
I no longer needed.
