weeds and wheels
from Hopkin's Spring
pitted and scarred
by a continent's
eastward half
a hub and spokes and up
from soil
like innocents among
propeller blades
daisies sway
with what breeze
there is
to resume the journey
would be
to shake this axle
to splinters
to roll these iron hoops
to dirt
to behead the daisies
scattering the ruts
with color
